El Asedio Animal

$14.95

In Hukuméiji, near the Don Diego River and the Caribbean Sea, the torrential rain awakens the memory of the inhabitants while the mudslides wash away mud, houses and corpses. In this town in northern Colombia, the body of human beings experiences pleasure and desire, but it is also the terrain where the horror of violence inflicts the most brutal and permanent punishments. Something has been taken from the protagonists of these stories: they took away their loved ones, their legs or the earth; but still feeling in the flesh the presence of their missing pieces, they insist on remembering their stories while looking for other ways to communicate, to love and to continue living. With a prose as raw as it is fascinating, Vanessa Londoño writes the mutilated body as a system to explain loss, a way to evoke empathy and, in that shared language of joy and carnal pain, to understand absence or death, dispossession , the injustice and brutality with which, in the general territory of violence, power tries to administer the landscape, pain and desire.
