The renowned novel by Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez, Cien Años de Soledad, is not only a work with an impressive literary, creative and expressive display of magical realism, but also takes us through a journey full of cultural and socio-political aspects that speak of both the history of Colombia and the worldview of Latin American societies. This course seeks to accompany the reading of this book by giving the participants guides to understand the connections that the plot makes with the real contexts of the time more deeply, and to unravel the social concepts that emerge in the narrative and that we can still read in current realities. The course also aims to create a space for dialogue and discussion on literary and social issues, from the perspective of literature as a sociocultural expression.
